Stellenbosch is, after Cape Town, the oldest town in South Africa.  It is situated in the Western Cape approximately 60km from the Mother City

It derives its name from that of Simon van der Stel, early commander of the Dutch East India Company's settlement at the Cape (1679 - 1699).

The Stellenbosch area is enclosed by majestic mountains to the east and by False Bay to the south. Cool Atlantic sea breezes penetrate the area from the low-lying west. Soil, climate and location favour the production of good wines.

There are five Catholic communities within the Stellenbosch parish. You may see more details about each one by clicking the links on the right hand side.
